Name: Rob Bangerter
Bio: Rob brings a unique, varied background to the BDA team. With his undergrad degree in plastic engineering, Rob got his start in factories as a process engineer before jumping the fence to work on the sourcing side. He later held leadership roles in consumer companies serving industries across sports, gaming and toys, and food and beverage. Most recently, Rob served as the VP of Product Development and Production at Espresso Supply, Inc. A Washington native, Rob grew up in Spokane before moving to the Eastside with his wife. In his new role, Rob will serve as Sr. Director, Global Sourcing at BDA.
What You Bring to the Team: My background in direct manufacturing and factory management lends a unique set of skills to BDA. A lot of people who work with factories have never really worked on the ground level. As a process engineer turned global sourcing director, I have the advantage of knowing how both sides of the operation work. This will come in handy when evaluating processes and goals.
Why BDA? As a Washington native, I’ve known about BDA for about 20 years and have always had a lot of respect for the company. The thing that always stood out was its dedication to producing quality products. BDA creates unique, innovative, high-quality merchandise – it’s not something that’s consistent across the industry. I also spent a lot of time getting to know the people before coming on board. I know BDA is the right culture fit for my personality.
What Do You Hope to Accomplish in Your New Role? I really want to see where I can make improvements and reduce costs on the sourcing side internationally while still maintaining the quality BDA is known for.
Hidden Talent: I do a mean BBQ.
Childhood Nickname: My parents called me Robbie sometimes.
Coffee or Tea: Coffee, for sure.
When You’re Not Pinch-Hitting at BDA: My wife and I spend a lot of time on home improvements. I’m also a pretty avid mountain biker.
