The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) approached BDA to help grow its U.S. marketing programs and sponsorship activation during the Rio Olympics celebration. The USOC challenged BDA to help boost fan engagement, reach more consumers, and connect more sponsors and athletes to the Olympic and Paralympic games through branded merchandise and interactive marketing.
BDA designed and custom sports gear, workwear and uniforms that aligned with the spirit of Rio de Janeiro. BDA developed custom Olympic websites and landing pages to house gear for some of the USOC’s largest corporate sponsors. Members of the team flew down to Rio and worked on-site, kitting more than 130,000 items in-country and managing inventory levels exceeding 800,000 units for USOC hospitality and uniform programs.
Sponsorship activation and brand affinity grew exponentially across B2B, B2E and B2C channels with support going to both the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams. Hundreds of thousands of pieces of merchandise were distributed globally, providing an estimated 5 billion impressions across the globe reaching maximum sponsorship visibility.
